Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
What is equine assisted Psychotherapy?
Equine assisted psychotherapy features interactions with horses. Clients participate in caring for and working with horses. Through these activities clients develop inward reflection, confidence building, and emotional grounding.
Why Would you use horses?
Horses are prey animals, which on a basic level means that they are excellent observers of their environments. They are sensitive to movement and emotion. This allows for clients to maintain a sense of self-awareness, using the horse’s behavior and interactions for feedback and opportunities to check in and process what is happening in the moment.
